Become a Champion This Give Miami Day!

Give Miami Day is one of the country’s largest days of giving and whether you live within Miami-Dade County or beyond, we encourage all allies for Florida’s national parks to show their support on Thursday, November 17th!

Eager to get involved before then? Donations can be made for Give Miami Day as early as Monday, November 14th, when the early giving period begins.

But the best way to show your support is to become a Champion for Florida’s National Parks.

Champions are one of the most important parts in making our Give Miami Day a success. As a Champion, you’ll become an ambassador, a super ally, and a mini-fundraiser all in one for Florida’s national parks on this special day.

Becoming a Champion for Florida’s National Parks can be done in three easy steps:

  • Create Your Champion Page
  • Invite Your Network to Support Your Cause
  • Follow-up!

Just remember that all Champion Pages must be complete by November 14th. Please contact bjohnson@floridanationalparks.org with any questions about Give Miami Day or your Champion Page.

Create Your Champion Page

  • Email Bailey at bjohnson@floridanationalparks.org with “Make me a Champion for Florida’s National Parks” in the subject line.

  • You will receive an email from Neon Raise (noreply@neonraise.com) within 12 hours. Make sure to check your spam folder! This will contain a link to a template Champion Page.

  • Click the link in the email to “Review and Publish Fundraiser Page.” This will allow you to preview and edit the template.

  • Want to personalize your Champion Page? Go right ahead! Make any changes to personalize your page by adjusting your fundraising goal, changing the image (additional header options can be found by clicking here or you can add a personal photo), or by updating the “Fundraiser Story” field.

  • Once you are happy with the information on your Champion Page, click “Save and Publish” in the bottom left-hand corner.

  • Follow the prompts to log into Neon Raise (or to create your log-in credentials). With your log-in information, see just who donates to your page, how much, and when!

Now that your Champion Page is created, the real fun begins! Let’s spread the word about Give Miami Day and get those donations coming in!

Many folks think that our national parks receive all of their funding from the federal government, but it’s organizations like The Alliance for Florida’s National Parks that pick up where the government leaves off to support programs that ensure that Florida remains natural, wild and – most importantly – accessible.

All donations between $25 and $10,000 will help The Alliance earn bonus funding from The Miami Foundation, making your dollars go further. Your support will help enrich the park experience and connect diverse communities to the nature that abounds in South Florida.

Follow-Up

As the saying goes, persistence pays off and Give Miami Day is when persistence can – literally – pay off for Florida’s national parks.

We know that folks get busy. An email or text can slip through the cracks, the social media algorithm may not have been kind to your post when it went live.

But with only 24 hours to make a difference through Give Miami Day, following-up and bringing in those donations is crucial.

You may have asked once, you may have even asked twice, but sometimes the third (or fourth) time’s the charm. This is where your passion for Florida’s national parks can really shine!

Make sure to follow-up with your friends and family throughout the day on Thursday, November 18th, as often as necessary.

Last year, you helped us raise more than $50,000 for Florida’s national parks through Give Miami Day and in 2022 we have our eyes set on an even bigger prize. We aim to raise $100,000 in support of Everglades, Biscayne, and Dry Tortugas National Parks, as well as Big Cypress National Preserve.
