New Art Show at Biscayne opens with a Moonlight Reception

March 11, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join the Tropical Botanic Artists, a collective of South Florida botanical illustrators, for a full-moon reception in Biscayne National Park on Saturday March 11 to open Encounters: Friend or Foe, the latest show in the park’s Community Artist Program. The exhibit will be on display daily from March 10 to May 15 in the park’s Dante Fascell Visitor Center. Admission to the park, the show and the reception is free.

“The interaction of plants and animals in Biscayne National Park’s terrestrial and aquatic environments is a subject that deserves closer scrutiny by all,” the artists said in a statement announcing the show. “In this exhibition, artists from the Tropical Botanic Artists collective bring these interactions to the forefront through a series of illustrations using various artistic approaches. Their aim is to increase awareness of the vital interdependence among species, both on land and in the water, and to focus attention on how these complex interactions affect the world we live in.”

The Community Artists Program at Biscayne National Park is supported by the South Florida National Parks Trust and its donors, the Miami-Dade County Division of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
